I got the Freestyle Libre (FSL) back in 2017 and after a short time of having constant nypos (night hypos) I decided I wanted the option of alerts/alarms which would wake me up if my blood glucose went out of range, so I moved to Dexcom. Dexcom is self-funded here in the UK (except for a few special cases) and is pretty expensive.
Soon after the MiaoMiao (MM) was brought to my attention. The MM is an additional sensor that can be added to the FSL to turn it into a continuous glucose monitor (CGM) just like Dexcom. It can be purchased for a one off cost and currently the MM1 can be purchased for a reduced price since the MM2 has been recently launched.
I have just had approval for FSL NHS funding so will be going back to the FSL with the addition of a MM sensor. Check out my video below of my first FSL insertion with the MM1. Check back here soon for a full review of the MM2.
Disclaimer – MiaoMiao sensor was gifted in exchange for a review, but all thoughts are my own and not influenced by the company.
